IN 1492 COLUMBUS SAILED THE OCEAN BLUE...

No trip to an island is complete without renting a car and touring the island. So...Friday we headed out for our tour. First stop was a drive thru tour of Club Med. Yes, there are only two resorts on San Salvador...one being a Club Med and one being Riding Rock Resort. Club Med didn't have a marina so we chose Riding Rock :) Next stop was the Dixon Hill Lighthouse....one of only three of its kind left in the Bahamas. The other two are at Hopetown and Great Inagua. They are all kerosene powered and manually operated.

CTM and Dr. Dave discovered a dirty little secret....THE LIGHTHOUSE WAS BEING POWERED NOT BY KEROSENE BUT A 40 WATT SYLVANIA LIGHT BULB!!!!

We have the Five O'Clock Somewhere and now CTM is working to restore the Two Thirty Somewhere.....could this be the Eight A.M. Somewhere?

We continued our journey on the complete loop of the island....13 miles by 5 miles. The last stop was the Columbus Monument on Fernandez Bay, the most widely accepted monument marking the spot where Columbus and his crew supposedly anchored the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Marina early that morning in 1492. There are several monuments in the general vicinity but the Columbus Monument is the most widely accepted monument as the "real deal!"

It is now Sunday morning and CTM has written the post about Saturday's fishing. We are waiting for Kinscherffs to load up their gear and then we will be heading to Rum Cay. We plan to fish our way there so will report in later about that. Internet can be sketchy in the Outislands of the Bahamas but stay tuned. Catch you on the flip flop....
