Columbus Point was on our way to San Sal and no way were we going to drive by there without fishing there "ONE MORE TIME!" I can't even count how many times have I heard "just five more minutes" or "just pass by that weed line one more time" or "just drive through those birds one more time." :) Well, this time it paid off BIG TIME! The seas were dead calm and I had just made the statement that fishing is always better when there is a chop to the water (looking for any excuse to reel up and head to San Salvador) when whirrrrrrr! Dr. Dave was in for the fight of his life....

What????? Another whirrrrr! CTM grabbed the second rod and we had a double hookup! Two Blue Marlin hooked up and then the wildest thing happened....a THIRD Blue Marlin swam right behind the transom of the boat! You have got to be kidding me! CTM lost his Blue before he got it to the boat. Honestly, I am not sure how we would have handled two at once but it would have been fun to try :)With lots of coaching, cheerleading, sweat wiping, and boat maneuvering 51 minutes later Dr. Dave landed his first Blue Marlin on the FF III. CTM had the leader in his hand (an official catch) and was trying to maneuver the fish to the side of the boat for the release and more photos when the biggest Blue I have ever seen slowly swam to freedom. It was the PERFECT catch and release!!!! So...this is the only photo we have of it but our estimate was that it was around 400 pounds!!!

I so wanted to fly that upside down Blue Marlin flag and pull in between those two ginormous boats at Hawk's Nest but sadly (or happily) we were on our way to San Salvador.....

A couple of hours later...."Hello San Salvador!" Thankfully this storm passed a couple of miles east of the marina :)
