OSCAR IS NOT HELPING......

O.K....so you all know that Caldwell and Kate's wedding day is approaching rapidly. Right before we headed to Islamorada for a few days I FINALLY chose the outfit I would wear for the big day! The jacket was just a tad bit snug and Jabet told me to "give it up and just get a "spanx"!" Since I was heading to paradise for a few days and CTM would be working on boat projects mostly I decided that I would, by golly, exercise EVERY day and eat "right" and one way or the other get into that jacket comfortably on the big day. A side note to this story is that CTM and I brought Oscar with us on our two day drive to the Keys! He made the trip fine but if you know Oscar...he has a LOT of energy AND he was suffering from separation anxiety from Pontiac. It was obvious....he was needing to run off some of that nervous energy. So....on Monday morning off Oscar and I went for a long walk. He was a trooper but since he was in new territory he felt the need to "mark his territory" many many many times. That night we took him bar hopping.....

By Thursday he was beginning to wear down with all the exercise and bar hopping :) so when I went to get him for his morning walk this is what I found...

I left him with Grandpa and off I went. While I was gone, it is a good thing that Oscar had on his life jacket because he pulled a Gary Peterson....jumped off the boat and right across the walkway into the water he went! Thankfully the tide was up so CTM was able to scoop him out of the water, take off his jacket, and let him shake off the salt water!

So...now it is Friday and I decided to take him with me again. I decided this time to count his territorial markings.....38 TIMES HE MARKED HIS TERRITORY!

And....about half way through the walk he decided he had had enough and staged a "lay in."

Yes, he refused to get up and go so I had to then carry him most of the way back! So, stopping 38 times to mark his territory, not being able to leave him with CTM, and his refusal to walk is going to make it harder and harder for me to go. I told CTM this morning that I didn't feel like it was helping much anyway. CTM was quick to point out that it probably would be a good thing but those four or five 20 ounce iced tea glasses of rum and fruit punch every evening on the porch AFTER several beers at happy hour might have something to do with it. And....eating "right" did not mean conch fritters, wings, and bar food at happy hour. So....to make a long story short I am ordering one of those "spanx" as soon as I finish this post! Oh....and probably in a size larger than I would need right now just to be safe :)

Catch you on the flip flop.....

  1. For the record... I did NOT tell you to "give it up" - I would never say that!

Secondly, please don't kill our dog before we get down there. Thank you. :)

  2. I don't think he is "your" dog anymore! Oscar thinks hanging with Gma & Gpa is a whole lot more fun!!!!

  3. I am thinking of writing a series of books - like "Oscar Does the Keys" or the "Adventures of Oscar"!! I believe he is adapting quite well - especially right at home with the bar-hopping!! Oh and Spanx are the best - an aerobic work-out just to get them on - I am searching for the spanx that goes from my nose to my toes :) Had some hugs with Lola Bean yesterday - said she can't wait to cya!!

  4. I like it...."Oscar Does the Keys"...no doubt I could write a book about him and his adventures. When you find that spanx that goes from your "nose to your toes" I'll take TWO!
